This fantasy book starts right away with an interesting opening that pulls you into the story. I would say it is a con artist trope in a fantasy world with deep character development.
I loved how sassy the main character was and her humor made me laugh out loud multiple times. All the side characters had a presence on the page and made sense, it not only added to the book as a whole but let me fall in love with them as individual characters.
The one thing I did not like is how some scenes were drawn out and got way too wordy. Some parts were slightly repetitive, I thought they took up the space but did not add the value.
The ending was great and did not have a cliffhanger. You can read book one and pick up the second story years later, the stakes lowered on the last page.
Huge shout-out for the cover and sketches inside, I wish more fantasy had that element.
