I was in a reading slump before I started this book. I hadn't realized how relatable a villain could be. Our main character (misunderstood villain) chose to stick up for herself, sure she did it by taking the identity of another woman but the other woman being her princess and therefore in charge of her was going to task her with being intimate with a man in her stead, as if that's without question. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the princess turn into a maid and having to live with little instead of riches. In the end she learned the value of money and that what she was asking her maid to do was wrong of her. I also loved how our maid (Vanja) went through life thinking she could trick others into seeing her as a ditsy princess so that she could steal from others in order to save up enough money to leave the princess glamour and the town behind, but quickly discovered she incorrectly assumed others hidden personalities as well.
