Excellent Goose Girl Retelling
I loved this book, and I loved reading it. As a retelling of The Goose Girl, it was loose but clearly in conversation with the original tale, which I deeply appreciated. I've read quite a few retellings of this tale, and they're not all great. This one however, was. And I loved all the little references especially. I really loved this cast of characters and this story, and I'm so glad for that. I also loved the demisexual rep. Honestly, Margaret Owen is just a phenomenal author I cannot recommend enough.
The artwork inside the book was stunning as well, and I love the care that was put into designing this book and its cover. All in all, fantastic.
Vanja is an incredibly compelling character, for all that she's a gremlin of a girl. And I loved the rest of the characters as well, from Gisele to Emeric to Ragne to Joniza. They were all so complex and loveable.
