One of the best, most exciting retellings I've read in a long time. It was creative and captivating with an awesome cast of characters that really draws you in. I have been meaning to read the authors previous book The Merciful Crows but it kept getting pushed down the tbr pile after reading this I am finally motivated to move it to the top of the pile.
I adored how clever and witty this retelling of Goose Girl was and how complex the story actually was. The author did a great job taking a classic and transforming it into something fresh and bold. I was completely engrossed in this book and am thrilled to find out that there is still more to come. Vanja was one of my favorite heroines that was a lot more morally grey but made for an epic character journey. I loved everything this author managed to do in this book that defied my expectations in the best possible way.
