The prologue gave me a Kingdom of the Wicked feels in it due to the eerie atmosphere we're introduced to. We also got to know Vanja's story thirteen years before the present time in the first chapter.
I like how the author sets up the world slowly and not letting us do some riddles in our end. The writing is also easy to read and this one would be good for some who shifted from middle-grade to YA based on the excerpt.
