I was immediately pulled in by the meeting of Death and Fortune—and the vivid descriptions continued into the beginning of the first chapter. I really like the voice of this author. It reads fairytale-esque and has a nice cadence. I also enjoy that we're thrown into the middle of the story rather than a slow build-up.
