Little Thieves by Margaret Owen is an absolute smashing read. Our heroine, Vanja Schmidt, is deliciously unlikeable and flawed; her moral compass is on the far side of morally grey, which makes for an exciting reading experience as you both try to guess what she’s going to do next and whether or not you support her choices. While she may not be likeable in the traditional sense, I found it impossible not to root for her.
