First off, I'm always a sucker for a retelling. That alone generally makes me want to pick up a book.
I loves the cover, the rich colors and art style is beautiful and definitely drew me in.
The prologue drew me in, you can tell this is not a Disney retelling and I love that. Also what mother abandons their kid to God's in a forest??? That part was shocking.
The first chapter definitely got me interested, you can tell vanja is talented at what she does which makes everything that happened all the more intriguing.
The writing style was a little hard to get use to, that was really my only issue but I think I'll get use to it as I read.
