The beautiful cover art was the first thing that made me want to read this first look! It is so gorgeous - I love the color palette and all of the detail. I am a huge YA fantasy fan; it is my favorite genre to read. When I read the first look, I was not let down. Owens writes with such detail and specificity that it made me feel like I was in the book. I felt like I was in a spooky, twisted fairytale and I began to really like Vanja as the main character. She's cunning, smart, and honest. This is the perfect book for spooky season, with themes of fate, fortune, and magic. I wish I had claimed this book in time - it looks absolutely amazing!
