I liked the set up of this book! I'm interested in seeing more of Vanja's life between the time that she was adopted by Death and Fortune and when she is pretending to be Gisele. I wonder if Vanja will be somewhat of an unreliable narrator or if the reader will become sympathetic to her plight.
I also love the use of German words and culture. Often, when a book has to deal with royalty, it is very English in nature. Since the Brothers Grimm, who wrote down The Goose Girl, are German, I think incorporating German into the story itself is a nice touch.
