I was immediately drawn into this story, wondering what had caused the woman to take her babies to a river, and if the DS could get to them in time. And the jump back in time, to find out what lead everyone to this place, only made me want to know more.
The descriptions of a new mother, overwhelmed and unsure, were spot on, and I love the way Lauren is described throughout the excerpt. The encounter at the end of the excerpt, with the strange woman in the hospital, is so unsettling - I would love to finish the book and find out what happens next.
