The childbirth the book opens with has the feeling of being set in the past or in some third world country. No bright shiny hospital with loving caring staff here. It made me feel really sorry for the mother from the start. Her husband didn’t sound like the kind of dad who would be really helpful either, so she would be managing those twins on her own. I know what one crying baby can do to your mind and she had two. Then there was the creepy old woman next to her, I could see her, smell her, feel her and I felt the mother’s fear. I can’t wait to read the rest.
