I was confused with the first couple pages, not knowing what DS & DI stood for, but it became clear that was later in the book- somewhat of a teaser.
The sample I read (excluding the creepy woman) was so easy to connect with as a mother myself. I didn't have twins, but hearing her inner monologue I can sympathize with what she is dealing with and processing those first couple days as a new mother to twins. The creepy woman is really interesting, and I want to know more about what happened to her. The old woman's song was peculiar but worrisome as she mentions killing children.
There is definitely something dark about that woman, but the question is if she is real or just in Lauren's head.
