This novel was a slow burn and I found the character study to be very interesting. We meet Tatum during two seasons of her life. One as an adult looking back on a past relationship and also as she lives her young adulthood. A famous author is being accused of a crime and a reporter is asking Tatum to share details about her long relationship and experience with this man. This shook up old memories and I could feel the angst as she reflected upon the past that she thought had been put to rest. I connected more with Tatum as a young adult and felt her struggle as she navigates finding her place in this world. I enjoyed the back and forth of the timelines and the writing made me feel like I was reading a diary. I could felt her pain and loneliness as she experienced manipulation and distance from a more mature man. He was hot and cold yet she continued to crave his love and acceptance. This was an interesting read and I enjoyed the writing style.
