I truly enjoyed this book. Like Happiness follows the story of a young woman as she recounts her relationship with an older man. I loved the way that the book flashes to the past and present, to show how Tatum is still effected by the choices that were made years ago.
Despite knowing what would happen, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time waiting to see how the inevitable would play out. I think the use of Hispanic culture and the intermittent Spanish phrases, were so important to the story. It helped further create the characters and flush out the world. I think this is an important story that was told.
It had a unique voice, and beautiful writing. I empathized with the main character and was rooting for her the whole time. I do wish the book was a bit longer at the end. I wanted to see what the response was after the interview came out. I understand why the book ends where it does, but I wanted more!
