When I read the first look, I was really looking forward to getting my hands on this book. Do I think the author is an excellent writer, yes. I was sucked in by the imagery. However, the imagery was not enough to keep me hooked into the story like I like to be. I found that around the 25% mark that I was skimming pages due to the pacing being slower than I expected. I hope to revisit this story in the future, but definitely think it will be one that I pick up when I want a slower paced book. Tatum felt very real and I liked the mix of her day to day life mixed with the internal dialogue that feels as though she is speaking directly to someone. I also think the dialogue overall is a really strong point for this novel. The characters had a distinct feel to them and the dialogue felt natural to every single character.
