I had been so excited to receive this new novel “Like Happiness” and began reading it immediately. The plot. Started off fairly interesting and was flowing along with a nice pace. I thought the premise was good but after about the first 50 or so pages it began to drag. The characters of Tatum and Dominguez seems to slide into being very one dimensional and I could not identify with either of them or find myself liking either of them enough to care what happened. The plot became too much of a headline from today’s current stories without the depth or character development to allow for the reader to want to move forward page after page. I found myself drifting while reading and many times had to force myself to continue as I was determined to complete reading this book. The author has failed to make this story compelling by more focused characters.
