I loved the beginning of the book, my attention was snagged immediately. It did eventually start dragging pacing wise after a while but the story kept me hooked the entire time. I have a love hate relationship with Tatum. I truly felt for her when it came to consistently being the only Latina in her classes and work, I can’t imagine what something like that would be, especially when in class the other students were so blatantly ignorant to her presence when discussing a book. The biggest things I didn’t enjoy about her character was that she acted snobby towards those who weren’t as intellectual as she was and the fact that she would pretty much drop whatever plans she had already made if Mateo wanted to do something with her. But I also get it, she was young, and sometimes we do things like that when someone we’re interested in shows interest in us as well. Overall I really enjoyed the book though from beginning to end and the writing in itself was really great. I will most definitely pick up other books by Ursula Villarreal-Moura.
