I enjoyed this book. It was a very carefully crafted, moving character study - a deep dive into complicated relationships.

I think that the author did an excellent job making these characters feel fully realized - particularly Tatum was such a compelling storyteller. I think one of the most compelling elements was Tatum's honesty as a narrator - for me personally, I read a lot of mysteries where the unreliable narrator is such a common trope but in this case Tatum was such an excellent storyteller. There was a care and attention to detail and a willingness to acknowledge that this was her perspective, and other perspectives may vary.

I think for me my only criticism is that there were moments that were a little on the slower side. This is definitely not a propulsive, plot driven sort of a novel - it is much more focused internally on the characters, which may not be for everyone.
