The first few chapters confused me, so I went back and fully read the book description which helped plant me in the right setting to understand what was happening. The first chapter begins with a letter being written from Tatum to her past connection, M. Dominguez. The story alternates between the letter and her present day life in 2015 Chile.

I really loved that this is a story with international settings. It was intriguing to see the characters compare and reflect on the differences of life in the US and in Chile. This obviously wasn't the focus of the story, but it was a great detail. The story is told in a way that is intentionally vague and felt like a mystery as Tatum slowly revealed the past. I think the themes may be too heavy for me, but the way this is told is definitely intriguing!
