To be honest I was not really sure what to expect when it came to life - lessons from hip Hop but this was a great example of a blending of history and self-help. This story collected many famous artists life story and philosophy when they approach music and just their general lives as well as a background history of hip Hop as a art form and as a musical styling. It's a book that you can pick up and put down as you want you don't have to read it chronologically or all in one sitting you can dip in and out as you need to or want to. This is a great overview of the history of hip Hop and African-American culture as a whole and I would absolutely recommend it to someone who is either interested in music or American history especially of a marginalized people who are unfortunately taken advantage of very frequently by the industry that makes them famous.
