It’s been a long time since I’ve finished a book feeling so conflicted about how I felt about it. On one side I loved it, there were so many things to love, (the representation with a POC as one of the main characters with all the struggles that come with it, the cycle of abuse and addiction that never fully ends, the beautiful special needs character integrated flawlessly into the story to make it feel normal -you know, like real life) but then other moments it fell flat, mere inches away from being great - perfect even - with stiff dialogue and unrealistic depictions of what being a teenager is like. But when you sit down to binge a thriller, it doesn’t have to be perfect, not when the suspense keeps you coming back and turning page after page and this was near impossible to put down once you begin.
