This was my first read of #buzzwordreadathon Round 2 hosted by Kayla (@booksandlala) and Natasha (@myreadingisodd) during 14-Jan till 20-Jan. The aim is to read books which contain the word "LIE" in the title or a variation of that word like "LYING" or "LIARS" etc.
This is a YA Thriller that heavily focuses on toxic relationships. Each chapter alternates between two main points of view. Firstly, there is Elyse who lives with her drug-addict mum in a not so great area. She wants a better life and is misguided into thinking her drama teacher can help provide that for her. Secondly, there is Gabe who tries to leave his controlling and possessive high-school girlfriend only to find that he ends up being perceived as the bad guy. It was really interesting to see how the stories connected, but the ending wasn't really to my taste.
