Even though the synopsis says the two main characters have never met and that their story is told in parallel narratives, I still expected to be able to find some common thread in both stories that gives me some hint of how the narratives connect. After reading the sample, I have no clue what that connection may be. So far, the storylines are completely different and take place in different states, so I’m really interested in finding out what happens and how the book ends. Initially, I was more interested in Gabe’s storyline because there were some dramatic things that happened pretty quickly. But, I suspect that Elyse’s storyline is going to get more interesting soon after the sample ended. This was a good First Look. It grabbed my attention and makes me want to read more about the characters and what happens to them.
