I've read a couple of Jessica Goodman's previous novels: "They'll Never Catch Us" and "The Counselors". Both were well-written novels that were also well thought out and interesting reads. I was excited to see that Ms. Goodman had a new release with "The Legacies". "The Legacies" takes place in New York City and revolves around the young adults that attend Excelsior Prep, and exclusive school attended by students of wealth and privilege. The exception is Tori Tasso a scholarship student from Queens. Obtaining a membership to the select Legacy Club has always been offered to the students of the powerful families. This year, the senior nominees were: Bernie Kaplan, Isobel Rothcroft, Skylar Hawkins, all the students of privilege. However, the surprise nominee also included Tori Tasso! Tori never fit into their social circle. So, how was she granted a nomination? The night of the Legacy Ball is one of the, if not the highlight of their time at Excelsior Prep. Secrets that were to be hidden are going to be revealed, even if it means dying to protect them.
