Mindy Mejia does such a wonderful job of pulling you into the story of Lucas and Maya. At first you find yourself thinking how different Lucas and Maya are until Maya starts to unravel the disappearance of Lucas and his father from civilization. What she learns will break your heart while at the same time give you hope for love. And as you see why her mother abandoned her, you also see how much she loved Maya. Maya understands the stories of the rocks she was told by her mom were her mom’s love language. How much we can learn when we don’t place our expectations on others and instead listen to their stories, we can then see how much we are all alike. We feel fierce love, abandonment, hurt as well as friendship, love and trust. I hope you pick up this book and laugh and cry with Lucas and Maya!
