Although this excerpt is shorter than I typically like in order to get a feel for a book, the sample that was given is action packed. It introduces the two main characters and jumps right into some action upon them meeting each other. One test of a good novel is whether it can hold your attention regardless of what is going on around you. Even with excess noise around me, including a distracting television show, I was sucked in to what was happening in Leave No Trace. I quickly reached the end of the excerpt and am left with enough questions that I feel like I need to continue reading. What is the full story behind 'the boy' and how will Maya play into his future? This is one I look forward to reading!
