This is more than just your average person goes missing and reappears drama filled mystery. It hit a few personal notes too close for comfort but it made me draw myself into the story all the more. Maya is a speech therapist who battles away the demons of her patients in the local mental facility, white keeping her demons at bay. She ends up taking a case about the young boy, Lucas Blackthorn, who entered the woods with his father only to disappear for 10 years, then showing up causing a rampage through a local shop. With no choice of backing out, she reluctantly agrees. From this point on her decisions take a turn for the worst. Maya tries to read in between the lines; the truth of what is known versus the truth that Lucas Blackthorn has decided to tell Maya about. Mindy Mejia is fantastic at making you think that the story is going to take a knowing turn, instead she trips you up and unexpected events occur.
I thoroughly enjoyed it, I couldn't find anything outright dissatisfying about it. Hopefully, you'll enjoy it too!
