I got interested in the book by the title. I love hiking and "Leave no trace behind" is something as a rule for passionate hikers. Then on, hikers are often interesting in survival techniques and the synopsis of the book attracted me even more.
The available excerpt increased my interested even more. I liked it. So far, I noted some "holes" in the plot, but they can still be covered in the rest of the story.
On the other hand, I do not like forcing anything, especially not in art (literature included). For instance, forcing politically correct language, gender equality, homosexuality etc... If anything forced appears in the first nine pages of a work, my expectations lower significantly. So far, I will chose to believe it was my misinterpretation due to reading non-native language.
