This was my first time reading a book by Mindy Mejia and I got to say one thing. I understand the hype. Her style of writing was so good and I found myself wanting more and more of it. I might have to read more of her work at some point. This book was a delightful mess, and I mean that in a good.....no, GREAT way.
This book's setting is what drew me in. It is primarily set in a mental health facility, with occasional settings being Maya's home and the Boundary Waters. The connection between the characters was pretty great and I absolutely loved Maya's connection and bond with Lucas Blackthorn.
Ultimately, I gave this a 4-star review because it was a great story and had great aspects to it, but I didn't see it deserving of a perfect 5-star review.
