I would give this one a 4.5 out of 5 stars. I really enjoyed the characters - the main character was a great perspective to read from. The author really delves into her background and created a really fleshed out character - she was fully realized, the good, the bad, and the ugly all on display in a way that I always appreciate.
I thought the plot and the central mystery was also very unusual and compelling. There were certain elements that felt fairly unrealistic to me which took me out of the story a little bit but over all I really enjoyed the pacing and the plot. One of the most compelling pieces to this book was that there were several mysteries driving the action so there was never a dull moment.
I would definitely recommend this book to others, especially lovers of good mysteries and exploring themes of family and the ways we communicate. I think most readers will find this on hard to put down.
