First off, I instantly felt compelled to read more as the scene was set. The character, Maya Stark, seems to be a likeable character who is still finding her foot in a new career. The lost boy, Lucas, clearly experienced trauma while missing for ten years along with his father. Now he's back but is refusing to communicate. Perhaps Lucas doesn't know how to communicate anymore, or maybe he wasn't allowed to communicate while being held captive? Regardless, it is evident that Lucas and Maya are going to form a unique relationship. Something is causing a reaction out of Lucas when Maya is around, so there must be more to their story. There are so many unanswered questions that I have formulated with just a few pages of this book. I must read more otherwise I will go stir crazy!
