Lucas Blackthorn and his father disappeared 10 years ago on a camping trip, both were presumed lost to the woods until Lucas was caught trying to rob an outfitter's store. Although he seems to understand, he will not acknowledge or speak to anyone on Ward 4 of the mental hospital. Maya, his speech therapist, is attacked by Lucas the first time he sees her as he attempts to escape. I was disappointed when the excerpt ended, I was thoroughly enthralled with the story by that time. Cannot wait to read the rest of the story and find out what happened in the woods.
