I don't generally read a lot of mysteries, but the fact that this one was set in 1950s queer San Francisco got me to read the first impression. I was surprised at how quickly I was interested in the Lamontaine family's secrets and high-society subterfuge. It reminded me a bit of Knives Out, with all the family members playing against each other but also against mainstream homophobic society? I really do want to see how this one plays out.
