When I saw that this was a Tor book, I had a feeling I would like it, and I was completely right. I'm usually a bit wary of books with police/ex-police protagonists, but so far, I really enjoyed this one. And, I know this was probably not intentional, but the edits throughout actually made it an even better experience for me because I really felt like I was getting an exclusive look. The prose is lovely and the atmosphere is completely captivating. Very excited to read this when it comes out.
