This was such a great book. I didn't realize it was the second book in a series, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

I was very quickly drawn into this book. The people of Hatchet Inlet are compelling. The setting is really well done. And I love the small town feeling in this book. The story begins with a conversation about Rauri Paar, the man who winters alone on his island and his return is the first sign of Spring. However, the story isn't just about Rauri Paar--it's about the townspeople.

What I loved most about this book is the characters. Each individual has his or her own story to tell and Sarah Stonich does a great job of telling their stories. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who is interested in action or face paced books. This is an easy read but it focuses on characters more than action.
