Snowed In
The author's voice is super engaging. She spells out all of the details of this small Minnesota town, painting a picture of the towns people and the missing recluse out on his island. The details are very important to me, and they are plentiful. I think Minnesota is a super interesting setting (not just because I live there), but because the story seems to hinge on the long, over bearing winters that leave some isolated and some in a terrible mental condition. (Alcoholism, depression, suicidal thoughts. All of it happens when you're snowed in for too long). I think it's a great place for a character driven story that deals with the relationships between town members. I think the dynamics between the characters seem very interesting and I'm eager to know where this story goes.
