This has the makings of a wonderfully, at first glance halcyon world when the surface is just skimmed, while underneath, real lives are being lived. An alcoholic, a man living an isolated life half the year, lives lost in a DUI wreck, tourist invasion, and mixed in among all this, ordinary people just surviving life in a harsh and sometimes extreme environment. The writer has given real depth to these characters and so far it's been a true pleasure to read.
