I'd rather start at the beginning of a series, always afraid that I'll miss something of the back story, if I don't start with book one. However, if an author is a good author, it won't matter if it's the second or third book, the description and characters will flow regardless. That being said, I'll be looking into reading Vacationland in anticipation of reading the Laurentian Divide!
