I read a lot of true crime and Last Call will certainly be one of my favorites from this year.

Not so long ago a serial killer targeted gay men in New York. Due to the stigma at the time, these murders were largely overlooked and forgotten. This book gives life back to the victims.

Much of the book is mysterious in that the reader doesn't know who the murderer is. Trying to figure out who was responsible really kept the pages turning. Readers will eventually learn who the Last Call Killer is, but I recommend not looking up any spoilers before starting. There are a lot of graphic passages necessary to the story and sensitive readers should beware.

Last Call is gruesome, heartbreaking, and enthralling. The story is organized and easy to follow. I particularly appreciated the maps of where the murder victims were found. I have never really been to this area and the progressive maps were really appreciated. This one is a must read this year for true crime fans!
