Reads like a true-crime documentary

The story reads like a narrator of a true-crime documentary. There would be some background, history woven into it, and then an abrupt line or two of dialogue or statements by witnesses/friends. The flow wasn't hard to follow but it did become a bit monotonous when it was all about providing context/background. I know real life isn't always action and result (since this is nonfiction) but I am more interested in the drama.
