I admit that I'm not a fan of true crime books. The subject matter is usually too much for me to read. But I also find that it takes real talent to take scraps of information, various conversations, court transcripts, police records, etc., and make it into a compelling story. And I'm not sure this book accomplishes that. It starts off a bit disjointed. Granted, I did have to stop reading because it got a bit too graphic for me (there should be some trigger warnings). I will say that I do remember this serial killer and I do think it important to highlight hate crimes (because this just wasn't murder, these were hate crimes against the LBGTQ+ community). But for me, this is a pass. Too graphic, too horrifying to have to read.
