First of all, the premise isn't common, which make the novel very interesting. True crime is a genre I can't usually hold well, so I tend to avoid it. But the fact that this one focuses on the LGBT community really makes me want to read the whole book as soon as possible.
The writing is dry and descriptive enough to builds tension. The author put such an amount of work into gathering factual data, but the story doesn't read as a report at all.
