I took a Japanese History class this semester and we talked about China because of the relationship between the two countries that has existed for many years. This book takes a deeper dive into the governmental aspect of China than I learned about. It truly puts things into perspective culturally, socially, and personally. I enjoyed reading this story even more because I could relate aspects of it to the class I was receiving. I would recommend this book to anyone seeking some perspective and understanding of Chinese culture and governmental functions. It might be a difficult start if you are unfamiliar with some meanings but it shouldn’t hold you back and it’s Definitely a good read. The characters are intriguing and represent many groups of people. I would enjoyed this book through and through, I will even suggest it to my professor for in class reading.
