Right off the bat, the cover is absolutely phenomenal. The different patterns and colors of China are made very clear and it parallels really well with the theme of the novel that the two main characters have vastly different experiences; they see two different "China's". It's fantastically designed and is extremely aesthetically pleasing. One of the best covers I've seen in my entire reading career.
It is a fresh, plot that really encapsulates the experiences of a Chinese person living in these modern times. I also really love the short stories concept. As someone in a bit of a reading slump, I find it's a lot easier to read short stories, get attached to the character and then let them go by the end of the read.
