The lush and gorgeous cover immediately drew me in to want to wanting to crack open what I was hoping would be a gothic and atmospheric tale. And wow, I was not disappointed. From the sample I was immediately grabbed by the story and wanted to keep reading. do know that there is children in peril in these first chapters, and the mother figure did remind me of Mother Gothel from Tangled.
The world building was absolutely set in these first chapters as well, I have such a clear vision of the horrors it contains, the fear, and how our main character is going to try to help her brother even though he is plagued by shadows.
Who is the Lord Under, will there be kissing in this book (oh I do hope there will be), and hopefully it will be a monster.
I'm still mad that the excerpt cliff-hanged where it did, and I need to get my hands on a copy as soon as possible.
