It's not necessarily haunting but very interesting. Its a gothic YA romance book and I would consider this to be a light read. I don't normally read gothic books but this one caught my eye and I'm happy to be able to own the copy. The fantasy elements are dark but not scary and would be good to read around halloween. Dedicating some books to seasons helps set the mood.
I will definitely be looking more into this author, maybe there will be a second book to this I'm not sure but I do hope so. Only took a few days for me (combined with other things). Keep things interesting and fast paced but not to the point where you lose track of what's happening or things don't make sense. Highly recommend if you're looking to get into gothic books but not something too intense. The details were great without being obvious and engaging.
