It was just okay for me

The first thing that drew me in about this book was the covering. It is absolutely gorgeous! I then read the blurb to get an idea of what it was about, and it sounded right up my alley. I tend to gravitate towards darker, more gothic books, especially when they have romantic elements.

If I'm being completely honest, this book was just okay for me.

In terms of the setting, I really enjoyed the beautiful yet eerie atmosphere of the mansion.

The book also felt a little repetitive in places, which took me out of the story at times. I also wasn't as attached to the romance as I ultimately wanted to be. I think that was for two different reasons. (1) The love interest was supposed to be a monster, but I think the execution of his overall character could've been fleshed out a bit more. And (2) I didn't full-heartedly connect with the main character. But that is totally just a personal thing, and I can understand why other readers would love her.

Ultimately I just don't think there was enough here to make this book memorable for me. But I hope this book ultimately finds its audience in the long run!
