This was definitely a great book for a debut. I really enjoyed the fantasy in the book. The magic system and terms are different than what they usually are in most fantasy books. This made for a refreshing change.
I however did not like the romance. It seemed great in theory but it wasn’t well written. It was sloppy, cringy, and random. There was no proper build between them as enemies-to-lovers romances need. The book read as one second she hated him and the next the heat of his chest had her swooning and wanting. It lost 1.5 stars from me solely because of the romance.
The storyline was interesting. The main problem isn’t what you’d think and the twist at the end wasn’t something I was expecting. Some parts definitely felt under explained/under elaborated but on a bigger level the plot was good.
I will definitely read the second book coming out soon and I hope that the romance will be better written in it.
