This is my first time reading a Gothic Fantasy and I'm very impressed. I was immediately mesmerized with the first chapters of this book. Enjoyed the writing style and atmosphere. Violeta is such an amazing character. Love the relationship she has with her brother it's very endearing. I'm so happy to have demisexual representation with her character. Slow burn romance is one of my favorite tropes! I love Violeta and Rowan's interactions with each other. Love that the author got her inspiration from movies and albums (especailly from Beauty & the Beast, The Secret Garden, and Labyrinth). This would make a great Tim Burton movie. The cover is gorgeous sand/creepy and it fits the story so well. Can not wait to read the next novel Forestfall! Will definitely recommend to my friends to read during spooky season.
